Kathy Niese
My interest in flowers began at an early age. We lived in a wooded area where we collected bouquets of wildflowers to give to the ladies in the neighborhood! My good friend’s sister worked in a local flower shop in Muncie Indiana, and this became my pathway into the floral industry! After one year of watering plants, trimming flowers, cleaning buckets, and basically all the (dirty work) I was allowed to make a bud vase, a rose bowl and with perseverance I eventually earned the title of wedding consultant in this small shop. I loved my work in the local flower shop. But when an opportunity became available to work as the Floral Manager in a full service, grocery store, Flower Shop, I jumped at the chance to become my own boss and have the benefits for my family! It was an awesome experience where I learned about the business of managing a flower shop where I developed my sense of design and creativity. I attended Ball State University and earned a degree in elementary education and worked in that field for several years. In 2006, I met my current husband and moved to Ottawa, Ohio. I needed to look for a job here, and as luck would have it, they were looking for a Floral Manager at a local grocery store in Findlay, Ohio, and I worked there until I retired. I often dreamed of owning my own flower shop, but I never considered it as a real possibility. Then I spent a weekend with my sister, and she took me to a self-serve flower shop. It was 1 room that had a cooler filled with arrangements and bouquets, candy, and candles and that was about it. I couldn’t get the thought out of my mind. I thought it would make a great retirement project, so I took my husband to see it, and he loved the idea too! We returned home to begin planning the shop of my dreams, and in September 2022, Kathryn’s Farmhouse Flowers opened! I hope each bouquet that I make tell a story and create memories that leave lasting impressions for years to come. I am so proud of my little neighborhood shop and grateful to share my lifelong love of flowers and the happiness that flowers bring to any occasion!About Kathryn's Farmhouse Flowers
